  3. Waking up this morning in my dorm room on the Death Valley campus, I had butterflies in my stomach. Not the bad ones though. The kind you get when excited about something and wondering how it will all unfold in the end. Its the beginning of a new chapter in my life. This isn't high school anymore. No one cares about what you did in the past but what you will do in the future to build a leagacy. In light of the 1st preason game of my career there are so may thought running through my mind; "How much playing time will I get, Will I even make a play if I do get on the field, how much faster is the game going to be?" The same thoughts play over and over and over again my head until I just have to put on my headphones and listen to sounds and remeber what got me here in the 1st place. Hardwork, dedication, a willing to learn and understand how the game will be played. I tell myself to remeber where I am and why I'm here. Coach Tac, no doubt in my mind one of the best AD's ever, will put us in a position to win and overcome. I just need to relax, learn from the veterans, and continue to imporove to the best of my abilites. I turn the volume up on my headphones, take a deep breath, close my eyes, and get ready for the ride of my life. #DVRangers
  4. From Jacksonville, AR, playing for the local Jacksonville Red Devils football team stands Team Captain and 3-year letterman Monte Wyatt. At 6'2 221lbs he is a force on the football field, but it wasn't always been this way. Born in Newport News, VA, and looking up to great athletes like Mick Vick and Allen Iverson, Monte has always been into sports and had some type of ball in his hands. His Father Monte Sr was in the navy and during elementary and Middle school, Monte was forced to move around a lot and never stayed anywhere for longer than 2 years. Before the start of his 9th Grade year, Monte Sr, retired from the military and moved the family back to where he was from in Jacksonville, AR. This is where Monte joined the football team his freshman year only playing very little on special teams. He finished his freshman year with an unimpressive 2 total tackles on the season. His sophomore year was an improvement as he was thrust into significant playing time at SS and LB due to injuries. He finished the year with 45 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 int. He was named All-Conference honorable mention. During his Junior year, the team made a hell of a run and won the 6A State Championship going 13-3 on the year. Monte finished the season with 88 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 1 interception. He was named 1st Team All-State and 6A DPOY. With a state championship and list of awards following the season, Monte didn't want to disappoint his Senior year and wanted to badly go out as the best player to ever put on a Red Devil uniform. He worked harder than he ever had in the summer before his senior year and made sure he would be the best. The team made it to the championship but lost 17-14 to a last-second field goal. Even though he finished with consecutive DPOY awards and 1st Team All-State with 102 tackles, 8 sacks, and 4 interceptions, this crushed Monte and he thought about hanging up the cleats as he was so defeated. He had a talk with his pops, who strong naval thinking was the thing Monte needed to hear. The dream of playing in the EFL was stronger than ever and there was nothing that could get in the way.
