Porter Rose starts with a solid rhythm here, setting the tone early with a 2:27 pace for the firsts 4 kilometers. At just 9:51, that's a very solid start for Eeagle Eye, as locals call him.

As he arrives to the first shoot-around, Tugg Bote is getting ready to start!

Porter Rose 1st Shooting: ⚫⚫⚫⚫⚫

omg... what a disastrous start for Rose. He is known for being a better shooter while standing, but it'll be difficult to recover this time. That's 5 penalty laps there.

Bote tries to keep up with Rose's pace from the start, but he falls just short by 3 seconds after the first lap. Still, very good opening lap for the Canadian based.

Rose, however, has been very harmed by its failures at the shooting stand and records a pace of 3:30 per Km in the second lap, almost a minute behind his previous 2:27. That's rough.

As Bote and Rose approach their next checkpoints, Teddy Smith gets ready to start.

Teddy Smith starts!

Porter Rose 2nd Shooting: ⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪

Tugg Bote 1st Shooting: ⚫⚪⚫⚪⚪

Much better performance by Rose here, nailing all his shots. He might have a decent kickname after all!

Bote did much better than Rose at the first checkdown and that's enough to take the provisional lead.

Teddy Smith starts and he is looking good. He might not have the legs of some other participants but he is well rounded. He likes to take risks at the plates tho, we'll see how he does. 9:56 at the first checkdown, 2 seconds behind Bote and 5 behind Rose.

Bote has the advantage of only having to do 2 penalty laps and takes the lead, arriving at the second checkpoint with 2 minutes and 13 seconds of mattress over Rose!

Rose recovers in this third stint with a much better pace. It looks like his legs are fresh still, it'll all depend on his shooting!

Marcus Cunningham!

Porter Rose 3rd Shooting: ⚫⚫⚫⚫⚫

Tugg Bote 2nd Shooting: ⚫⚪⚪⚫⚪

Teddy Smith 1st Shooting: ⚫⚫⚪⚪⚪

Bruh. Rose will leave without scoring a single prone target.

Bote misses two again. Not bad, not good.

Teddy Smith follows Bote's steps in the first checkpoint with just two misses. Let's see who's legs hold up better.

Marcus Cunningham ladies and gentlemen!! What a rocket start! He has the best legs in the tournament and he is trying to prove it early. With an absurd pace of 2:21 he arrives at the first chekpoint in just 9:26, -25 seconds over the second qualified at this point, Rose. It's still early but... wow.

Teddy Smith, having failed just two, keeps on Bote's trail, arriving 12 seconds after him to the second checkpoint.

Bote, that had taken the lead at the second checkpoint over Rose, loses it once again. Tugg hasn't found his rythm in the third lap and is struggling, conceding the lead again to Rose. They're trading checkpoints.

Rose is, of course, paying the deeds of a miserable outing at the shooting ground. However, his time lost looks more to be caused by the penalty laps than tiredness. He might have a chance at a good time if he hits his targets in the next round.

Built Different Time!

Porter Rose 4th Shooting: ⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪

Tugg Bote 3rd Shooting: ⚪⚪⚪⚪⚫

Teddy Smith 2nd Shooting: ⚪⚪⚫⚪⚫

Marcus Cunningham 1st Shooting: ⚫⚫⚫⚪⚫

Rose's thing is to shoot standing up, of course.

Bote has a pretty good 3rd shooting and he might retake the lead once again.

Teddy Smith misses two again, following once again Bote steps.

Marcus doesn't have a good outing, might have to reconsider his breathing?

Porter finishes strong. What an athlete. He is not even tired! If he can fix his prone shooting, we might be in front of one of the best biathletes.

Porter Rose finishes with a time of 1 Hour and 42 seconds

But Bote retakes the provisional lead in the 4th partial! he doesn't have Rose's legs, but he is way more consistent at the plate. if he has a good outing in the 4th, he might take this!

At the same time Teddy Smith decides to attack and beat's both Rose and Bote in the third stint! -25 seconds for Smith.

Cunningham has to pay his deeds in the second lap. 4 penalty laps are tough to swallow and he loses he can't continue registering best times.

Built Different is just built different and starts with the lowest pace registered yet, trailing 14 seconds to the second worst at the end of the first lap.

Nyko Nax makes his debut!

Tugg Bote 4th Shooting: ⚫⚪⚫⚪⚪

Teddy Smith 3rd Shooting: ⚫⚫⚫⚫⚪

Marcus Cunningham 2nd Shooting: ⚪⚫⚪⚫⚪

Built Different 1st Shooting: ⚪⚪⚫⚪⚪

Bote has a chance but he has missed two targets in the last round... will it be enough to overtake Rose?

Smith, who was leading the race at the start of the 3rd checkpoint, will be heavily penalized for this.

Cunningham with an average performance in the second outing.

Built Different has a very nice performance there, the best one at the 1st shooing yet. Can he outshoot his oponents?

That extra kilometer Bote has had to do due to missed targets really hurts him in his last lap, where has an agonizing pace. He can't make it and Rose maintains the lead!

Tugg Bote finishes with a time of 1 Hour, 2 minutes and 16 seconds (+1:34)

Smith effectively loses his lead in the 4th lap, but still ahead of Rose at that point. He just has to not collapse like Bote did.

Cunningham has the legs, he is posting good times, but he really needs to stop with the penalties. a 3:24 pace won't cut it. However he arrives to the 3rd checkpoint with the second best time, ahead of Rose by 5 seconds.

Built Different, aided by his great shooting, was leading the race during the 5th, 6th and 7th kilometer, but loses it by just 2 seconds at the transition to shoot again. Bote retains the lead at the second partial.

Nax must be skiing barefoot because he is setting a pace of 2:57 in the first lap. He trails by more than a minute the second worst time.

Siddhus His Sweet Sixteen on the snow!

Teddy Smith 4th Shooting: ⚫⚪⚪⚫⚫

Marcus Cunningham 3rd Shooting: ⚫⚫⚪⚫⚫

Built Different 2nd Shooting: ⚫⚪⚫⚫⚪

Nyko Nax 1st Shooting: ⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪

It's really not being a good day for shooting. Smith just needed a good outing here. We'll see if that's enough.

Cunningham is all legs, no eyes. Unfortunate, it's not being his day.

Different was placed second at the stat of this shooting, but this can set him back.

Wait. Is Nyko on to something? Can he just survive by hitting the targets?

Teddy Smith, while overtakes Bote and his disastrous last lap, can't keep up with the insane pace Rose put there, and finishes with the provisional second best time!

Teddy Smith finishes with a time of 1 Hour, 1 minutes and 31 seconds (+0:49)

Cunningham pays the price of missing 4. He arrives to the 4th checkpoint only above... Rose. Man what a last 4kms Rose did.

Built Different has lost all his leverage and posts a tragic 3:36 pace in his third lap. He arrives last to the checkpoint, a minute and a half behind Cunningham.

Nax... well... he knows how to shoot, but he hasn't put on skiis ever, so he is not doing much.

Siddhus has had a bumpy start and finishes his first lap in 10:49, only ahead of Nax.
