Theory
After running for 101 yards and two scores, cameras were quick to catch second-year running back Judoma Forscythe in the locker rooms for a brief statement about the game that was had. After mentioning a few times that he would like the visit to be brief, he decided to address rumors about a change in the backfield carries from the storm with regards to his new role on the team. Judoma was quoted saying: “I don’t really care if I am an every-down back or a change-of-pace kind of guy. My main goal - my main reason for joining this team - was to bring a deserving franchise to the forefront, both in the short and long term. I know the various power shifts may make my efforts null and void, so while I am here I’m gonna do everything for this team. If I have to run the ball on every down, I’ll do that. If I am going to get the ball less and block more, I’ll do that. Hell, if I have to be a long snapper for the rest of my career here, I’ll do it with a smile on my face because I know it’ll be for the greater good of the team.” With regards to his performance, Forscythe was very happy with his production in his own way, stating: “I think I was able to showcase my skills as it pertains to catching passes out of the backfield. Although it was just a couple of catches, I think that was what I was to have aimed to do in the first place - add a dimension of my game that I did not really have before last season. I think that, as a dual-threat, I should be able to work my way into something that affects every offensive aspect of my game and bring the necessary versatility this squad needs." Theory
A 90 yard performance once again saw The Hellion at the podium, this time to address what members of the media called an "Off night" for the young back. Judoma seemed to be awfully cheery for a player who was relegated to the third down back role, although his earlier quotes from his earlier games seemed to showcase a more team focused attitude towards games such as these. At the post game press conference, the Hellion decided to make a statement rather than start with questioning. In said statement, he said: "Before we begin, I would like to address the role reduction in today's game: I am but a simple running back for the team that I want to win the most. When coach comes up with a game plan, I go through with it. I am not, have not, and most likely will not be that desperate of a player to demand more carries when the game can be won with me carrying less. There may be a me in team, but the me in team would like to be a team player and wants a championship. It doesn't take one person to make a team. It may take one to break a team, but not to make one. I'm here to make the team better - not myself. With that said, if anyone has any questions related to the game that don't involve reduction in role, feel free to ask away." In the stunned silence, Judoma waited patiently for approximately 2 and 1/2 minutes before nodding and politely ending the press conference. Theory
Justa Backer, current linebacker for the Anchorage Storm and newest Hellion signee, was never much of a talker. He simply wanted to make his game be felt amongst the rest of the league. With the storm being contracted, however, he felt it necessary to get ahead of what needed to be said about his availability and his future. When asked about his time in the ECFA continuing, Backer decided to be a little candid with his response, saying: "I thought I was going to be in Alaska for my time in the ECFA. I think that, when you really think about how well we're doing and what the fans have really come out to see and endured for so long prior to this season, our legacy was ripped from us. Anchorage may not have been the best place, but we were going places and I wanted the rest of the league to see that. Because of this, I haven't really heard from Forsythe about his decision - though I think we will unfortunately be playing on separate teams now thanks to this news of contraction. With that being said, I have decided to take my talents to Savage City. I think that becoming a wraith would be best for my career moving forward, and while I don't like being separated from a player and man that I've come to respect in Judoma, I think that I have to make a name for myself as well. We have signed on to the Hellions brand together, but we are individuals. I'm sure that my play will express that in the future."
Theory
No, the Hellion Brand is not dead! I just felt like I needed to say that to start out this update on my career thus far. To date, I have not been living in the big leagues like I thought I would, and that actually frustrates me a bit, but I know that I am still young and can be available for Seattle at their beck and call. That, along with new management in the building, let’s me know that I can be able to make things work for me. We are four games into the season, and I only have 50 yards to show for things, but I think that with some more effort and some more work this offseason I can be able to achieve what I set out to do and make a name for myself on this team - kind of like what my Brandmate Backer is doing this season, with his 35 tackles, 2 sacks, 5 passes defenced and one INT. That truly is all that I am here to let you guys know about, though I may be having some more news as my career goes along; up next on the docket for me is a sit-down interview with a couple of documentary filmmakers in order to get some insight into my Hades Creek Days, alongside my ongoing charity work with the Hell’s Bell’s ® charity commission for the rehabilitation of Abused Men and Women (or just Hell’s Shelter ® for short). My life may not be going to plan, but others out there have been and are being hurt worse in many ways. I want to provide counseling and even intervention and preventative measures to ensure that there are fewer instances of domestic violence in the Seattle area - and beyond (eventually). While I work out and aim to improve my standing on the roster, I’ll be working to make sure that the commission works to bring our goals to fruition. That is all for now (from me anyway), fellow Hellions! Until We Meet Again! Theory
What up, world. Backer here. Just decided to have a bit of a chat with the world from Hellion’s Brand Page. First things first: I want to thank the Frenzy for giving me a chance to showcase my talents and play on the field from the start of that season. It really helped that I was able to get into the flow of things and get busy on the defensive end. I am having a decent start to the season and am coming off of an 80-tackle, 6-sack, and 1-interception season last year. Our team even got to the championship game, where I was able to add 6-tackles and a sack to my totals for the playoffs, though I did also have a penalty and we got soundly defeated by the Brigade. Moving forward, I hope to try and continue to get better at what I am told to do: tackle and cover. I even have some more passes defended this season than my previous one since I am able to cover more. Hopefully, I can get stronger and force some more fumbles, but I think that stopping quarterbacks from targeting the easy passes will buy some more time for the big guys up front for now. With regards to my contributions to the Brand, I think I have yet to process what to really dive into, but I am currently working with various San Francisco medical practices to tackle cancer via charity drives. Pretty soon, I’ll be aiming to release some special edition shoes and cleats to aid the hospitals in funding their oncology wings; Be on the lookout, fellow Hellions! (And yes I was told by my brand rep to sign off like that - do forgive me while I aim to distinguish myself from the rest of our talented lineup) @51FundaMent on Twitter (fake)
Theory
With seven games into the season, The Los Angeles Reign have a 3-4 record, and while things may need to be improved on a certain side of the ball, one spot that seems to have been a relatively shining beacon has to be the performance of newly signed running back Judoma Forscythe. The Hellion - as he is aptly called for the way he tends to practice and play - has had a stellar year overall thus far, raking up 682 yards on the ground and adding in some spot receptions through the air in order to make up for what was considered a couple of lost years for himself. When we caught up to him to interview him about how the season has been going so far in retrospect, he was not shy about letting his feelings be known, saying: “I understand my situation in Seattle was a bit of a rocky start, with Fourside carrying a bulk of the load, but I think that I liked sitting on the bench and absorbing the atmosphere with the Predators. I liked that I could give it my all in practice, but I really wished I could have done more in the games we played. I would practice hard all week for four yards and I was very distraught. At times I would not talk to family and that would make things more difficult when it came to asking for something like a more advanced role, or even a return role or something. At a certain point in Free Agency, I talked to the guys there and they told me that the situation would have to stay the same, so I politely stated I would find work elsewhere. I like to think that - now that The Hellion is in LA - There is a lot more I can do this season. I started out great but there is still a ton of football left to play. Hopefully, I can break out even more down the line”. With 682 yards on the ground so far, Judoma sits third in the league, trailing his former teammate Fourside, who sits in first. While it is not a competition, it would seem that Seattle may have overlooked a potential one-two punch that could have been running the league. Theory
After some time away from the Hellion Brand - or rather the press conference aspect of the brand - Judoma Forscythe decided to take the podium and talk about his recent decision to come back to Los Angeles and his thoughts on the team’s current record, stating bluntly: Quote “I would like to say that I love the city of LA and I am very inclined to stay here after I have retired. I am grateful for the opportunity to win that our front office has placed in front of me and will be determined to showcase the talent that many saw in Miami for the last two seasons. My only wish is that I get that same resolve returned to me this season. I may be slightly slower than I was last season, but I know I can still bring it to opposing defenses like I once did. My skills are still sharp, and I am able to do this for much longer than people anticipate. People have told me this position is punishing over time, but I think that - over time - I have shown that I can rise above the expectations many have set for me and I want to be able to show that from game to game. Now, if the plan doesn’t involve me gaining ground the traditional way, then I would be glad to work with the receivers to help the team and impact the game in another way. Until then, I only ask that LA win more games, as the current record is not acceptable in my eyes and I will work harder to change the current situation.” Perhaps, knowing his situation is in a committee setting, he is more confused about the output of each of the running backs on the roster, because one could look at his statement as one of wanting to be more involved in any way he can - he was once a special teams returner in the ECFA - perhaps his all-purpose nature can be exploited there, though many should not get their hopes up. Look for LA to bounce back to winning form, as his statements are only indicative of the current record of the team at the moment. Time will tell if the team will be able to turn this season into a title-winning one. - Clipped from the LA Times 'Sports - EFL' section
Theory
Backer Takes over, Seeks Another Ring After a season of versatility from Judoma Forscythe, the titular running back, champion, and former main attraction of the Hellion and Hellion Corps brand has retired. With him goes the total amount of yards he accumulated from scrimmage - which led him to success and an eventual championship, along with accolades that could very well get him to the Hall of Fame, and if not that then the “Hall of Very Good”. With the lack of a genuine superstar, the only big-leaguer in the fray is Aging Linebacker/Strong Safety Justa Backer - who has had a solid career in his own right, albeit in the shadow of Judoma. In the wake of his abrupt retirement, many were expecting Backer to go out alongside his Brandmate but were shocked to find that he resigned with the Los Angeles Reign - the team with which Forscythe won a championship. We went to the grizzled veteran in order to get his take on the scenario occurring, as well as his plans. His response was as such: “I really did not see Forscythe retiring out of the blue: It really came out of nowhere! I think he retired with about 9 million in his funds. Knowing him, I think that he would have been able to fight time for a season or two, but he just sort of decided it was time, I guess. As the only defensive representative, I think I can still make a splash for a team - and I think the situation I am in is fitting, regarding getting signed by LA. I still have some fight in me, so I think the next season will showcase I can contribute. The Reign were the only one to contact me, so I will do whatever I can to make sure they come away with a ring.”
Theory
Young Hellion Prospect Seeks Retribution The season has ended for the Hades Creek Phalanx, yet Isaac Ames is not happy at how it had ended. As the season progressed, it was clear that HCP had obtained their QB of the future in Ames, with his ability to seemingly pass for the right amount of yards needed to keep the opposing offense off of the field. His stats were not impressive when compared to other players - ironically like the QB he played against in the Heroes Conference Championship - but he was just what the doctor ordered on drives during the season, and showed he could make things happen through the air and on the ground. While his ground game was sufficient by committee - Isaac himself being one of them as well - they completely collapsed against Death Valley, who took the game 27-10. While he had to drop back 50 times (more than any point in the season), Ames had a different tune during his press conference after the game, saying: “I look at these stats and I am saddened - not just because I averaged 2.5 yards per throw and let my team and the city down, but also because I came away from this with a clean jersey. I know it sounds strange, but look at these defensive stats from the other team - no sacks, no picks, only one tackle for a loss and we could not score before I did it myself? All they did was bat down passes I know I made a great read on before I threw them, and now they get to move on. This sucks, but I hope to get better in this next season and exact some sort of revenge. I hope the front office is with me on this.” After stating this, Ames walked away - leaving a season in which he threw for under 3k yards but nearly 30 TDs and under 10 INTs behind, seeking absolution for his next Phalanx season. Theory
Older Hellion Still Kicking Justa Backer is still seeking employment. That is the message that the now-grisled vet is choosing to put out into the atmosphere. At his advanced age - in football terms - it is a wonder that the LB/Safety is still around. After having a season in which he showcased he still has the juice - including a game in which he had 11 tackles (seven of them being for loss), in addition to multiple games in which he was the team’s leading tackler and games where he showed he could still lay the boom on opposing offensive players. As many wait with anticipatory breath for the league to resume play for the next season, Backer has been patient, working out with many players from the Los Angeles Reign in a league-wide attempt to stay in as peak of a condition as they can. As for why he wishes to play for more seasons, he simply states: “I was able to get my taste of a championship, and that title was one that was special to me because we would not have been in that situation if not for the defensive - and by extension, my - contributions to that ring. I think this league has been very kind to me and I simply want to give back in any manner I can. Another title run would be nice - we did finish over .500 in LA - but I can understand if GMs are hesitant to take me as I am now. I’ll just keep working hard to show them that I still got it.” Time will tell if the LB gets another shot, but many fans will be waiting to watch his career continue - hopefully for their favorite team.
